With the 2017 Milltek Sport Volkswagen Racing Cup Championship having concluded at Donington Park last month, as we now look onwards to the all important prize for the top three competitors from the series. Bobby Thompson, Tom Witts and Jamie Bond will all get the opportunity to pilot the Maximum Motorsport NGTC Focus next week (12/10/17) around the fast Leicestershire based circuit.

Champion Bobby Thompson clinched the 2017 title in the last race of the season in dramatic fashion by climbing up the order from ninth to finish second. "After winning the 2017 Miltek VW Racing Cup championship I really can't wait to get out behind the wheel of the Maximum Motorsport NGTC, it'll give me a chance to get my BTCC mileage up and give me a chance to see how things possibly may feel for the future!" Commented Bobby ahead of the test.

Tom Witts claimed vice championship honours for the second season running in 2017, after not finishing out of the top five all season long. “I've watched the BTCC ever since I can remember so to now have to chance to get behind the wheel and experience driving one will be amazing I'm sure! Next season we are looking at progressing into some form of touring car racing, so this test will be a good indication of my ability in these types of cars” said Tom Witts.

Jamie Bond finished third in the series in his first full campaign in the championship, with multiple podium positions and an appearance on the top step of the rostrum. “I'm really looking forward to testing a current NGTC spec BTCC car, my aim ever since I was a kid was to be a BTCC driver and to actually get the chance to test one is amazing and I truly cannot wait, hopefully it can open up some doors for me to move up in my Motorsport career.“ Commented Jamie Bond.

“I’m pleased to be able to offer the latest crop of young talent the opportunity to drive our British Touring Car, it’s going to be an interesting day to see how they deal with the different machinery” Said series director Stewart Lines

Multiple successful drivers have made the leap into the British Touring car championship from the Volkswagen Racing Cup, and this test will give the lucky three the chance to get to grips with the NGTC machinery as they look at progressing in their racing careers.
