Mark Steel returns for 2020 VW Cup campaign
Folowing his first full season in the VW Cup last year, Mark Steel is the latest driver to sign up for this year’s VW Racing Cup.
A top-ten finisher in 2019, Mark has confirmed he will contest all but one of the seven events and 14 races that make up this year’s calendar, having to miss July’s Oulton Park meeting in order to carry out Best Man duties in Las Vegas that weekend.
Mark will drive a Golf Mk 7 prepared and run by the newest team to enter the championship, JM Racing. Unsurprisingly, he is excited by the prospect:
“Having competed in other VAG-based series’ in the past, it was great to have the opportunity to drive in the VW Racing Cup for the first time last year. It would be fair to say that I learnt more-and-more as the season progressed and was pleased to end the year far stronger than when I started. I’m therefore looking forward to taking that experience forward into this season.”
Having changed to a new team for 2020, Mark also had this to say: “It was a pleasure to work with Slide Sports last year. They looked after me extremely well and I would like to wish Mark Jenkins (team principal) and the team all the best for the season ahead.”
